Rebekah York serves with the Colombia Mennonite Church (IMCOL). Her focus is creating, developing and maintaining relationships with various church and church-related organizations.
The ministries that she walks alongside are the Venezuelan Migrant project led by a local Mennonite church as well as the program “Mujer y Paz” (Women and Peace) housed within Justapaz, the local peacebuilding organization of IMCOL. In the migrant project, spiritual and psychological accompaniment for the families, women, and children that make their way to Colombia are provided. The second ministry at Justapaz includes a focus on the role of women of faith in local peace-building endeavors. Here, context analysis, capacity-building workshops, and monitoring and reporting are some of the activities that take place as she works alongside the Colombian team. All the work is done within the framework of strengthening female leadership and working towards the implementation of peacebuilding processes with a focus on women of faith.
